Serving at Church at The Kroc

Serving is an essential part of our mission here at Church at The Kroc, and we believe that every person has a unique gift to share. Whether you’re interested in greeting guests, working with youth, serving refreshments, or reaching out to the community, there’s a place for you to make a difference here. Each role is designed to help create a warm, welcoming environment and support the ministry's impact, both within our walls and out in the community.

Explore the variety of ways you can serve below, and feel free to reach out to the contact person listed for each team to learn more. Join us in building a stronger, caring community, one small act of service at a time!

Welcome Team

The Greeter Table is a vital part of creating a welcoming atmosphere at church. As a greeter, you’ll be the first person people see when they arrive. Your role is to greet them warmly and provide any materials they may need, such as church bulletins, calendars, or tithing envelopes. You’ll also answer general questions about church programs, like where kids’ services are held. The position can be done sitting or standing, making it accessible for all.

Volunteer greeters are scheduled to serve once a month and should arrive by 10:15 am on their scheduled day. For more information, contact Misti at [email protected] or (480) 516-4879.

Kroc Café Team

The Kroc Café serves coffee, snacks, and a welcoming atmosphere to church attendees. Volunteers serve as baristas or cashiers, providing great customer service and ensuring the café is well-stocked and clean. Training is provided for both positions.

Volunteers typically serve once a month, with flexibility based on availability. To join the Kroc Café team, contact Kim at [email protected] or (480) 200-5234.

Hospitality Team

The Hospitality Team helps create a welcoming environment at church events by setting up, serving refreshments, and cleaning up afterward. Volunteers serve once a month for about 1-2 hours, with training provided.

To volunteer on the Hospitality Team, contact Demi at [email protected] or (480) 665-6259.

Translator Team (English to Spanish)

With a diverse congregation, it is Church at the Kroc’s aim to make sure attendees can worship and receive in their native tongue. This role is an opportunity to serve by bridging the language gap and sharing the gospel with Spanish-speaking individuals.

Prior to the Sunday service, the assigned translator will meet with the preacher to prepare for the translation and ensure they fully understand the message. During the message, the translator will translate the English sermon into Spanish via headsets.

If you are a Spanish speaker and would like to help with this vital ministry, contact Miriam at [email protected] or (602) 907-1013.

Production Team

The AV Team helps ensure that sound, visuals, and lighting are set up and functioning properly during church services. Volunteers prepare church presentation slides, set up microphones, adjust sound, and operate video/live-stream equipment.

Training is provided, and volunteers typically serve 1-2 Sundays per month. For more information, contact Isabella at [email protected] or (623)221-5060.

Sunday Youth Team

Church at the Kroc is committed to helping children grow in their faith through fun and engaging age-appropriate activities. Volunteers can serve in our various ministries in various roles, including teaching, assisting with teaching, helping with music or computers, providing snacks and drinks, restroom monitoring, and/or leading games.

Youth ministry opportunities involve: Nursery (ages 6mos – 5yrs) – provided during both Sunday School and Worship, Youth Sunday School (1st-5th grade), and Jr. Church (1st-5th grade) – provided during Worship.

Volunteers are scheduled in their selected youth ministry once a month or based on availability. All volunteers are background checked and trained. To join our Sunday Youth Team, contact Paloma at [email protected] or (602) 425-5066.

Parking Team

The Parking Team ensures that church members have priority access to parking during services. Volunteers assist with monitoring the parking lot, directing traffic, and providing information about church events to visitors.

This role requires a friendly but firm approach. Volunteers serve once a month or as needed. To get involved, contact Skip at (480) 200-5162.

Small Group Leader

Churches grow and individual faith thrives when quality small groups are formed and Christian community is happening. Small groups happen throughout the week and in the form of Sunday School before church.

If you are interested in leading a small group, contact Captain Jess Pearce at [email protected] or (602) 425-5020.

Homeless Outreach Team

Homeless outreach is a hands-on ministry opportunity for volunteers to live out the mission of The Salvation Army meeting human need without discrimination. Each Thursday from 2-4PM, volunteers prepare meals and distribute food, water, clothing, and hygiene supplies at local parks, offering both practical assistance and the message of hope through conversation and prayer.

For more information, contact Paloma at [email protected] or (602) 425-5066.

Prayer Correspondence Team

Church at the Kroc believes in the power of prayer. With a large congregation, there are many prayer requests. Volunteers in this role send handwritten cards to people who have requested prayer or those visiting our church for the first time. It’s a simple but meaningful way to encourage others.

Volunteers write cards at their convenience during the week, typically within a week of receiving requests. To participate, contact Millie at [email protected].

Nursing Home Ministry Team

Every Tuesday at 10AM, volunteers join together to visit local nursing homes to spend time with the residents, offering a short service and personal connection. Transportation from the Kroc to the nursing home is provided, if needed.

To join, contact Major Eric at (910) 358-8503 or just show up!

Midweek Youth Team (Troops)

The Troops program focuses on discipleship and develop life skills in children. It’s a fun, engaging way for children to explore biblical truths while working toward achievement badges. Volunteers support the program by assisting with teaching, helping with snacks, restroom monitoring, or running the sign-up table.

Troops meets on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30PM, with volunteers arriving 5-10 minutes early for setup. The program takes breaks during the summer and Christmas holidays. To volunteer, contact Paloma Kolb at [email protected] or call (602) 425-5066.

Teen Night Ministry Team

Teen Night is an outreach program that connects teens with mentors and the gospel. Every Friday from 6-8PM, teens gather for dinner, a devotional, and an activity that fosters fellowship and spiritual growth. Volunteers can serve by leading devotionals, helping with dinner service, coordinating activities, or assisting with clean-up.

Teen Night runs year-round with breaks during the summer and winter months. To volunteer, contact Paloma Kolb at [email protected] or call (602)425-5066.

Volunteer Bell Ringing (Seasonal)

Join the seasonal bell ringing team and help raise funds for the Salvation Army during the holiday season. Volunteers ring bells outside local stores to collect donations that support those in need. Shifts are available from 10AM-2PM and 2-6PM, from November 4th to December 24th.
